This feels like summer music to me, makes me happy when I listen to it. I used to play trumpet in high school, so I’m partial to the brass instruments. I’d recommend listening to it on a sunny Sunday afternoon while lounging on the patio with a cold beer and some friends. Hope ya like it!

Filthy

After asking around to see what some of the filthiest house songs are, I’ve put together some mixes that would make Jenna Jameson blush.

Ok…maybe not. But it still isn’t something you want to listen to while your Mom is around. Unless you have some weird kinky Mom that enjoys going to strip clubs with you and constantly hits on your friends.

You should probably listen to this with headphones. I’ve heard more than a few stories from people who played past Filthy mixes too loud. One girl opened her apartment door to see her Grandma waiting in the hallway, regretting her surprise visit. Deep House, a cross between Chicago House, disco and jazz, is generally heavy on the brass instruments, dark beats, and deep vocals. Many of these tracks don’t have a chorus of sorts; they play out as more of a journey from start to finish rather than repeating hooks.

You’ll notice that the bass kicks are a lot more mellow than on most house tracks, which helps compliment, rather than overwhelm, the jazz vibe. The two exceptions are tracks 4 and 5, when the energy ramps up and the highs kick in.

My favourite of the bunch is Mood for Dancing – if you aren’t grooving by the 15 minute mark, you might want to check your pulse. Hope you like it!
